Bot a Blog is a free web service originally created by James Paden of Xemion Web Design. Wondermill Webworks acquired the service in 2005 and re-wrote the core backend in 2006.
Current features of the system include:
- Easily subscribe to blogs
- Bulk subscription form
- Receive SIMPLE text/html email alerts when blogs update
- Unlimited blog subscriptions
- RSS auto-discover is supported so you don't have to enter in the direct link to the RSS feed
- HTTP conditional GET with ETag and Last-Modified is also supported so we don't beat your server to death checking to see if your blog has updated
Features under development:
- Add all the blogs in your BlogRoll to a bot instantly instead of having to enter them individually
- AOL instant messenger updates intead of emails (maybe MSN too, we'll have to see about that)
- Most-popular blog lists and other lists like that
